What we know so far...

I thought I'd do a brief summary of some of the things that have been learnt about the planet Britannia so far, or events that have happened since the player characters arrived: The Ruins - as the long range scans from the Odysseus indicated there are ruins on the planet that would appear to have been made by humanoids or similar. The walls of which appear to be made from single pieces of stone/mineral rather than individual bricks or blocks The Phone - amidst the rubble of the ruin the team found a Sony branded smartphone. Although he has not shared this yet, Ryland has been able to access some of the data on the phone. The model dates from the early 2050s (just before the period Historians class as the "Aberrant War") but last held a charge in the 2080s. It should be noted that the "Chinese Ultimatum" when the Aberrants left Earth took place in 2067... The tribe - The player characters have discovered that they are not alone. To the east of the...

Standard Personal Gear

As we increasingly run the risk in Æon Trinity of getting into more  and more dramatic shenanigans I thought I'd provide our players with an outline of the default personal expedition gear they will have. Just as a point of clarity we are only defining personal gear as the Hybrid Transport assigned to the team has other "stuff"; drones, specific mission gear, emergency survival gear, Vacuum suits, medical kit etc but I'm not going to do a full inventory of that as it's tedious and frankly limiting.  As Storyguide I'd rather apply the "rule of cool" and "Yes, and..." principles and define specifics as we need (and as makes sense to the plot). So what have they got? Well, unless a player specifies other personal gear that supersedes it each player has access to the following: "Expedition clothing" - this is a overall/uniform/jumpsuit/survival garb (a variety of styles are available) with Taskforce and name badges.  It counts a...

Session #0 - Our happy band...

Our Session #0 is complete and we have most of our Player Characters ready to go. (In no particular order) the team currently consists of: Ivy Von-hop - a Street Rat/Combat Specialist/Norça Biokinetic Lili "Fetch" Page - a Street Rat/The Sneak/Freelance Psychokinetic James Templeman - a Military Brat/Space Military/Æon Trinity Clairsentient Kojo Twenoburyo - an Adventurer/Spacer/Upeo Wa Macho Teleporter Ryland Cross - a Street Rat/Tech Expert/Orgotek Electrokinetic After completing the characters we did a short introductory scene in a nightclub called "McCavities" in Absolute-Zero, the station on and within the Asteroid Vesta in the Asteroid Belt. The bar in McCavities intentionally has no artificial gravity but consists of a web of ropes and spherical "tables" with seats suspended within. It is the "last night in town" for the members of Task Force Odysseus. Most crews and personnel are enjoying the entertainments that the frontier s...

The Campaign Concept

Our player characters will be a part of a UN sponsored task force heading out to an extra-solar system. The campaign will begin on "Absolute Zero" station on Vesta, the second largest body in the Asteroid Belt and site of the attack in 2105 that signalled the return of the Aberrants. “A-Naught” is the belt’s equivalent of a frontier town, offering shops, restaurants, and entertainment to miners and refinery workers. It’s also the main outer-system base for the UN Space Guard and the Seventh Legion. Most ships heading farther out of the solar system stop here for supplies and maintenance and hence it will be here that our characters find themselves as the various elements of the mission muster and assemble. The task force is based around the Leviathan jump ship "Odysseus". Odysseus himself carries a selection of support craft within his internal bays; a full fighter squadron and eight space/atmosphere hybrid transports. Added to this, four Orgotek...

How it begins....or "why I've dumped all my other campaigns to run Trinity again"

There is a lot of shit about at present; globally, nationally, locally and personally. The last few years have had some dreadful events (affecting me both directly and indirectly) and 2019 is shaping up to be cast in a similar image. To this end I feel like I need some positive escapism in my gaming, with something that even though it may have dramatic or tragic moments, is ultimately hopeful and optimistic. As points of reference I mean "hope" like that of the first Star Wars film (Episode IV) and the optimistic outlook of Classic Star Trek. I need the sense of heroic adventure of the pulps i.e. Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers. I obviously can't completely cut myself off from negative imagery in the world, and that isn't my intention. But I can avoid steeping myself in it for "fun". I'm not ruling out that I may occasionally wish to include elements of horror, tension or threat in whatever game I run but I would like to do that in an a...
